Hot on the heels of reality gourmet cookery shows, come those on the skilful art of baking! The Great British Bake Off first hit our television screens in 2010 and saw judges the legendary Mary Berry and artisan baker Paul Hollywood, lead the search for the UK’s best amateur baker via a series of baking tests taking into account; technical challenges, creative flair, general baking ability and the creation of a showstopping bake.

Such is the show’s popularity, Bake Off has survived a change of television channel, welcomed new judge Prue Leith, replacing Mary Berry and presenters Noel Fielding, Sandi Toksvig and Matt Lucas who have respectively filled the shoes of Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc. The show has also spawned a number of spin off progammes including; The Great British Bake Off An Extra Slice, hosted by comedians Jo Brand and Tom Allen and Bake Off:The Professionals, also hosted by Tom Allen with Liam Charles.

As with BBC ‘s Masterchef, many of Bake Off’s winning contestants have gone on to realise lifetime dreams and achieve life-changing career moves.
