More

Spencer’s fascination for computers and computing began at school and led him into three years of studying computer science at Cambridge University. It was there that he developed a further passion becoming involved with the Cambridge University Radio, progressing from presenting programmes to running the station in his final year. Following graduation, he set up a charity radio station for the city and later undertook a similar project closer to home. This provided the platform on which to base the transition into local radio, presenting the breakfast radio show for Ocean FM before joining the BBC. This early experience proved invaluable seeing him interview a wide cross section of celebrities from Sir David Attenborough to Phil Collins. He has even gone on to discuss techie stuff with the Queen!

Famed as the host of Click, the BBC’s guide to technology, social media and the internet, Spencer is also recognized for his work on Five’s The Gadget Show. Along the way he has exposed security loopholes in Facebook and gave the first TV demonstration of a botnet, showing the power hackers have over infected PCs.

Spencer’s speeches are both thought provoking and entertaining in which he considers the importance of technology in the developing world. He is also available as an awards host.
