One of London’s best-known female chefs, Monica Galetti developed an interest in food at an early age. Having trained in New Zealand she worked for Michel Roux Jr at Le Gavroche in London before becoming his sous chef and later Michel’s Head Chef at Le Gavroche Tropiques in Mauritius. Now based back in the UK Monica and husband David have opened the restaurant, ‘Mere’ in Bloomsbury London. She is a familiar face on our television screens as a judge on the BBC series Masterchef:The Professionals and as a presenter on BBC2’s Amazing Hotels:Life Behind the Lobby.

One of London’s best known female chefs, Monica Galetti was born in Samoa and raised in New Zealand. Her passion for food developed at a young age, training in New Zealand where her talent was quickly recognised. She moved to the UK at the turn of the millennium working under the expert guidance of world renowned chef Michel Roux Jnr. At Le Gavroche. Her rapid progress saw her rise to the rank of Sous Chef at the London restaurant before taking on the role of Head Chef at Le Gavroche Tropiques in Mauritius in 2005.

Now based back in the UK, Monica and husband David Galetti own and run the successful restaurant ‘Mere’ in Bloomsbury, London.

For the last decade, Monica has been a regular face on our television screens as a judge on the BBC series Masterchef:The Professionals and as a co-presenter on such programmes as Amazing Hotels:Life Behind the Lobby.

As an author, her first book, Monica’s Kitchen was published in 2010 and her second, The Skills, in 2016.
