Matt became a household name as a presenter on the popular children’s TV show Blue Peter, showing himself to be something of a daredevil. Now best known for presenting on The One Show and Countryfile he was also a member of the commentary team for the BBC coverage of gymnastics at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Other TV credits include; Animal Rescue Squad, Crufts the BAFTA nominated Wild Alaska Live, Big Blue Live and Royal Wedding Watch, The Gift and Secret Britain. Diversely Matt has starred on stage in the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium, hosted numerous large-scale orchestral concerts, taken part in the arduous Rickshaw Challenge for Children in Need and made the finals as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

Born in Durham, Matt became a household name as a presenter on the popular children’s TV show Blue Peter, showing himself to be something of a daredevil. 

Now best known for presenting on The One Show alongside Alex Jones and Countryfile with John Craven and Ellie Harrison, he has also become a regular member of the BBC sports presenter team having provided commentary for coverage at the Beijing, London and Rio Olympic Games, most notably for gymnastics, his expert field having been crowned British Gymnastic and Sports Acrobatic Champion in his youth. Matt has also covered the European and World Gymnastics Championships, presented on Jonny Wilkinson’s Hotshots rugby series, the Olympic handover concert live broadcast outside Buckingham Palace in 2008 as well as being involved as a torch bearer for the Olympic Flame’s journey into Durham in 2012, part of the London Marathon team and the Derby horse racing presenting team.

Other TV presenting credits include; Animal Rescue Squad, Crufts the BAFTA nominated Wild Alaska Live, Big Blue Live, Royal Wedding Watch, The Gift, Secret Britain, the Royal Wedding 2011, Trooping the Colour, anchoring the Diamond Jubilee Flotilla Pageant and launching the Diamond Jubilee Concert from Buckingham Palace. In fact, Matt has hosted numerous large-scale orchestral concerts over the years including a number of Family Proms in Hyde Park and BBC Road Shows.

A drama school graduate he has also starred on stage in the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium.

Other achievements of note include taking part in the arduous Rickshaw Challenge for Children in Need and reaching the finals as a contestant on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
