John Torode is the well-known chef, TV presenter, writer and proprietor of Smiths of Smithfield, a four-floor restaurant, private dining room and cafe in London. He is familiar to millions as the co-presenter of Masterchef, Junior Masterchef, Celebrity Masterchef and Masterchef:The Professionals in addition to A Cook Abroad:John Torode’s Argentina, The A-Z of Cooking and John Torode’s Middle East. John Torode is unquestionably one of the most recognized and influential chefs on television today. He is best known as the co-host and judge of BBC1’s Masterchef, Celebrity Masterchef and Junior Masterchef. He is also famed as the presenter of A Cook Abroad series - John Torode’s Australia, John Torode’s Korean Food Tour, John Torode’s Malaysian Adventure, John Torode’s Argentina, John Torode’s Middle East, as the host of The A to Z of Cooking, Saturday Kitchen and as a guest expert on ITV’s This Morning. His additional television credits are many and varied including; Masterchef:The Professionals, Masterchef Australia, The One Show, Have I Got News For you, Comic Relief, Room 101, The Wright Stuff and The Apprentice:You’re Fired. Born in Australia, John is widely credited as for introducing Australasian food into Great Britain. He worked at Pont de la Tour before becoming Sous Chef at Quaglinos and later Head Chef for the launch of Mezzo in Soho, which, at the time, was one of Europe’s largest restaurants.

At the turn of the millennium, John opened the four-floor Grade II listed restaurant Smiths of Smithfield, a private dining room and café, with a second equally successful establishment, The Luxe at Spitalfields Market following nine years later.

Passionate about sourcing the best of British produce, he has championed British beef and Aylesbury duck in the Great British Food Revival and is a prolific food writer contributing to such publications as Olive, BBC Good Food Magazine, The Guardian, The Mail and The Observer newspapers.

John is a popular choice for corporate events incorporating culinary demonstrations, informative talks and Q and A sessions. He is much sought after to endorse high-end brands and makes regular appearances at Masterchef Live in London and the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham and Glasgow.
