Futurologist Hamish McRae began his career as Deputy Editor of The Banker and Editor of Euromoney prior to becoming Financial Editor of the Guardian. He came to public attention with the publication of his internationally best-selling book, The World in 2020:Power, Culture and Prosperity. Its success is attributed to the fact it explored many forces for change including globalisation and natural resources, technology, demographic movement and geo-politics.

Now highly respected as an economic journalist, he was a long-time Associate Editor and former Chief Economic Commentator of The Independent prior to the publication going digital. He continues to write columns online and regularly writes for the Evening Standard.

Hamish studies trends in demographics, natural resources, globalization, technology, government and society thus bringing together all forces for change in order to project the future, short and medium term. As a result, he is able to provide and promote working strategies on global change for businesses across the world. He is also the author of a number of best-selling books.
