More
Davina McCall’s passion for music saw her sing professionally with a band before making her breakthrough into television and presenting her own show on MTV.
She went on to become famed as the host of Don’t Try This at Home and Streetmate in the late 90’s prior to being chosen to present the Channel 4 reality show Big Brother, a role she fulfilled for ten series and which proved to be a major turning point in her career. Davina has subsequently presented events such as; The BAFTA Television Awards, The Brit Awards, Comic Relief and Sport Relief in addition to the programmes; Popstars, The Rivals, The Vault, Oblivious, Five Minutes To A Fortune, the reality show Reborn in America, The Davina Hour on W Channel, Got to Dance, Million Pound Drop, The Jump, The Nightly Show Life at the Extreme, A & E Live This Time Next Year, Long Lost Family and Long Lost Family: What Happened Next.
Keen to promote a healthy lifestyle, Davina has undertaken a number of sporting events by ‘getting on her bike’ in support of Action Medical Research, a project for which she is an avid campaigner. She has also written a number of publications on the subjects of smart carbs and going sugar-free, in addition to teaming up with personal trainer and fitness guru Ed Lumsden to create a fitness workout plan.
Also on a well-being theme, Davina fronted the BBC documentary Let's Talk Sex, looking at how sex education was being taught in Britain (one of the countries of Europe with the highest teenage pregnancy levels). A book to accompany the documentary was published under the same title. Such was the power of her work on this topic, sex and relationship education was added to the UK Curriculum from 2010.
On the acting front, Davina has appeared in Sam's Game, a Friends-style TV sitcom, as well as Leigh Francis comedy sketch shows Bo Selecta and A Bear's Tail. She also provided the voice of an android version of herself for the Doctor Who episode "Bad Wolf".
The former face of L’Oreal brands Garnier and Nutrisse, Davina is in high demand for product endorsement and has developed her own bespoke range of fitness APPs, equipment, FIT shoes and clothing, readily available online and in shops.
