Sue Perkins began her comedy career as one of the double act Mel and Sue with Mel Giedroyc. Together they clocked up 25 years of television appearances including The Great British Bake Off and updated version of The Generation Game amassing numerous awards nominations along the way.

Sue first flew solo in 2005 proving herself to be highly talented on a number of fronts. Wry, witty, inventive and brilliantly observational, Sue has received much critical acclaim for her stand up show a and writing talents with credits including Absolutely Fabulous and her own memoirs entitled Spectacles and East of Croydon. She also wrote and starred in Heading Out, her first venture into sitcom, a genre she will be revisiting in 2020 with Hitmen, a new Sky series in which she will once again team up with Mel Giedroyc.

On the presenting front Sue has also hosted a number of series of Insert Name here for BBC2 alongside Josh Widdicombe and Richard Osman, Fronted the final four series of Thronecast for Sky TV, appeared on various comedy panel shows including; QI, Have I Got News For You and The Last Leg as well as making radio appearance on The News Quiz and Just A Minute. Other credits include; The One Show and Supersizers with Giles Coren which involved her dressing up in historical costume and eating and drinking popular delicacies of the time. 

Always happy to try a new challenge Sue has presented several travelogue programmes such as; Japan With Sue Perkins, The Ganges With Sue Perkins, The Mekong River With Sue Perkins and Kolkata With Sue Perkins. Passionate about animals, her documentary Sue Perkins and the Chimp Sanctuary won her a nomination for a Grierson Award in 2018.

But perhaps the pinnacle of her presenting career to date has been to host the prestigious 2017 and 2018, BAFTA Television Awards

In something of a diversion, she took part in the BBC series Maestro in which “famous amateurs with a passion for classical music” compete against each to win the opportunity to conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Proms in the Park. Having triumphed, Sue has since been involved in various other concerts for charity and has conducted at the Royal Albert Hall.
