More

Steve Williams belongs to a rare group of athletes who has won successive Gold medals at consecutive Olympic Games.

He began rowing at the age of 13 while at school ultimately being selected for the Great Britain squad in 1999 and winning Gold at the World Championships just a year later as part of a coxed four.

The path to Olympic glory in Athens proved to be a stormy one with coach Jurgen Grobler controversially splitting up the crew and introducing Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell. Preparations went from bad to worse but miraculously, against all the odds and expectation, Steve’s crew went on to win Gold by inches.

The following year saw Steve again in the lead boat which remained unbeaten all year. Consistent winning of World Cup and World Cup Championships followed and together with the rebuilding of the crew, it was Gold again in Beijing.

Following his Olympic triumphs, Steve has embarked on a number of extreme sport challenges including conquering Mt Everest and trekking to the North Pole.

Available as a motivational speaker and for workshops, he has proven himself to be an asset on the corporate circuit not only as a speaker but as an ambassador. He has also hosted a number of learn-to-row team building days.
