Simon Calder has loved travel since experiencing his first camping trip as a child. He began working life as a cleaner for British Airways at Gatwick Airport and then as a security guard during which time, he scripted budget travel manuals. 

He is famed as the presenter of such shows as BBC2’s Travel Show, the Holiday programme and host of Travel Clinic on LBC 97.3 as well as featuring regularly on Radio 4 and Radio 5 Live. He also posts a weekly video diary online.

He is also a familiar face on BBC Breakfast, Good Morning Britain, ITV News, Sky News and CNN.

Since reaching the role of Senior Travel Editor of The Independent, Simon has continued to write regularly for the Evening Standard and other publications such Conde Nast Traveller, BA’s inflight magazine, High Life and Travel Trade Gazette.

Other credits include a winning appearance on Celebrity Mastermind where his specialist topic was Concorde.
