Matt Dawson is a former rugby union scrum half who during his playing career won 77 caps for his country. He has gone on to carve a prominent career for himself in the media as a summarizer and commentator for BBC Radio Five Live is a popular personality on such shows as A Question of Sport, Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Masterchef and is also in great demand as an after dinner speaker.

A member of the 2003 England Rugby World Cup winning squad Matt Dawson is now instantly recognized as a resident captain on BBC’s popular sporting quiz, A Question of Sport.

During his playing career, Matt amassed 77 caps for England and making him the country’s most capped scrum half of the day. He also represented the British and Irish Lions on three tours. Matt proved his leadership qualities on numerous occasions and also captained the England Rugby team to six Nations success in 2000. At club level he played for Northampton Saints and London Wasps.

Following retirement from the field, his informed, outspoken approach to presenting made him a firm favourite on BBC’s rugby coverage in addition to which he has proven himself to have a substantial amount of experience in written journalism. Added to this, his appearances on reality television have made him a national television personality. 

Showing his natural competitive streak, Matt took part in the 2006 series of Masterchef winning the crown, then followed this by competing in and becoming the runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing. Versatile in the extreme, Matt has also presented his own cookery show with Mitch Tonks entitled Mitch and Matt’s Big Fish for UKTV Food in which the pair toured the country’s coastline creating tasty dishes along the way.

Frequently in demand on the corporate circuit for his motivational presentations, Matt highlights the key elements in the foundation of a winning team and how to transfer these skills to the business world. He is also available for awards hosting, presenting and personal appearances.
