Having begun his career with such programmes as Newsround and Newsnight, Krishnan who is considered to be one of the brightest talents in his field. For a number of years, he has been one of the main anchors on Channel 4 News reported on Unreported World and numerous major events from around the world. including making documentaries in South Africa, America, Yemen, Iraq and Afghanistan. He also fronts Channel 4 News’ podcast Ways to Change the World.

Educated at Oxford University, Krishnan’s early career saw him work on BBC 2’s DEF II programme Open to Question and the youth current affairs programme Reportage. While still at university he presented the programmes East and Network East and took over reporting for the popular children’s news series Newsround. He followed this with three years working as a producer and reporter for BBC 2’s Newsnight becoming one of the launch presenters for BBC News 24. During a decade spent with the BBC, Krishnan also presented the news on BBC World and played an integral role in coverage of the 1997 General Election programme and the funeral of Princess Diana as well as in co-presenting the National Lottery Live on Saturday evenings before joining Channel 4 in 1998.

Now the second longest serving reporter for the channel, he has reported and presented worldwide and is lead presenter of Channel 4 News at Noon. He has covered numerous disasters, conflicts and political movements and has received nominations for awards such as; the RTS News Presenter of the Year in the journalism awards of 2010 and 2014. Other presenting credits include; The Operation: Surgery Live for Ch.4, The Event: How Racist Are You? The Autopsy and The Exorcism. On radio his credits include his own weekly radio show on LBC 97.3, UK Leaders Live and Hindu Lives for BBC Radio 4. 

In addition he has made a number of cameo appearances both on TV and in film and has been a columnist in the Metro newspaper, Asian Newspaper and Eastern Eye.

In 2011, Channel 4 announced that Guru-Murthy would become an ambassador for its foreign affairs programme, Unreported World. He has subsequently gone on to make documentaries in South Africa, America, Yemen, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Krishnan is available as a presenter, awards host and conference facilitator.
