Born in Plymouth, John began his career as a reporter for the Lincolnshire Echo before moving into radio. A recipient of the Broadcaster of the Year Award, he is well known for hosting major sporting events such as the as Rugby and Football World Cup, the Olympic Games and Wimbledon. With a wealth of knowledge at his fingertips, John is an ideal conference facilitator, awards host and after-dinner speaker.

One of the UK’s most respected sports presenters, award-winning John hails from Plymouth and gained a degree in history from Southampton University before seeking a career in journalism. 

Beginning work as a reporter on the Lincolnshire Echo, he moved to BBC Radio Lincolnshire in 1982 and subsequently reported on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 on the Today Programme a presenter of Sport on 2 and Radio 5 Live.

During this period, he has presented numerous Olympic Games, football and rugby World Cups, Wimbledon Championships, Open Championships and various other major sporting events including; World Athletics championships, Grand Nationals, The Ryder Cup and Champions League and FA Cup finals.

John’s television career began on BSB presenting rugby and football and he was a regular presenter for BBC 1’s popular sport’s show, Grandstand. Other credits include Onside, The World’s Strongest Man, The French Open Live, Aegon International and he continues to play a major role presenting with the BBC commentary team at Wimbledon.

He has also taken part in such series as Annually Retentive, 100 Streets and Witless

Available as a presenter and conference and awards host, John is also a highly entertaining after dinner speaker.
