Dr Hilary Jones trained at The Royal Free Hospital, London qualifying in 1976. His first job saw him work as a single-handed medical officer on one of the most isolated inhabited islands in the world, Tristan da Cunha. He went on to become a troubleshooting GP and Emergency Doctor for the oil industry in Shetland and later a Principal in General Practice and GP Trainer. Subsequently he worked as a Senior House Officer in Ophthalmology before presenting educational medical television programmes and ultimately joining TVAM where he and Lorraine were the first presenters to be designated their roles on GMTV. Dr Hilary is Health Editor for ITV Breakfast Television

Dr Hilary Jones trained at The Royal Free Hospital in London and went on to become a Principal in General Practice in the early 80’s. An early role saw him working as a single-handed medical officer in one of the most remote islands in the world, that of Tristan de Cunha. He went on to become a troubleshooting GP and Emergency Doctor for the oil industry in Shetland and later a Principal in General Practice and GP Trainer. Subsequently he worked as a Senior House Officer in Ophthalmology before presenting educational medical television programmes and ultimately joining TVAM. 

Along with Lorraine Kelly, the two were the first presenters to be signed up by GMTV. He currently holds the post of Health Editor for breakfast television and regularly contributes to radio shows such as the Steve Wright Show on BBC Radio2.

As a writer, Hilary’s publications include; Before You Call the Doctor, What’s the Alternative, I’m Too Busy to Be Stressed, Total Well Being and Natural Remedies. He has also launched an app for iPhone and iPad.

He is proud to be linked to a number of charities including; The Meningitis Research Foundation, The Lauren Currie twilight Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society, The Stroke Association, British Heart Foundation Northern Lights Children’s Charity, National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society and Lucy Air Ambulance.
