During his playing career, Gavin Hastings captained Watsonians, London Scottish, the Barbarians, the British Lions and Scotland. His Scottish career highlights included three World Cups. Following his retirement from the game, he became a regular member of the BBC commentating team and later founded his own company specialising in sports marketing and sponsorship

Former international rugby playing full-back Gavin Hastings enjoyed a phenomenally successful career during which time he captained every team he played for including Scotland 20 times and the British Lions on the 1993 tour of New Zealand. Widely considered to be one of the finest players of his generation, Gavin Captained every team he ever played for, amassed 733 Test Match points over ten years and was honoured for his services to rugby with an OBE in 1994. He was also inducted into the Rugby Hall of Fame in 2003.

Following his retirement from the International game in 1995, Gavin pursued an earlier passion by setting up his own business in sports marketing, having previously trained and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor. Selling the business some ten years later, 

he went on to become a Director of two different companies, Hi Events specializing in corporate events and hospitality and Positive Leadership striving to help business leaders achieve under pressure. 

As a result, Gavin is in great demand as a keynote, motivational and conference speaker.

A keen golfer, Gavin plays off a handicap of just five and has been instrumental in such projects as Scotland’s Ryder Cup bid.
