Former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Frank Bruno is undoubtedly one of Britain’s best loved sportsmen. At the forefront of British boxing since the 1980’s, he turned professional at the age of 21, quickly becoming renowned for his powerful punch, a punch that would see him win the European Heavyweight title by a knockout in 1985, Frank challenged for the WBC Heavyweight Championship of the World title on three occasions, fighting against Tim Witherspoon, Mike Tyson and finally taking the title from Oliver McCall on points decision.
In a career that saw him win 40 fight victories from 45, 38 were knockouts.
Since hanging up his gloves, this boxing legend has become a favourite in the media, starred on stage in pantomime and founded the Frank Bruno Foundation, helping to support and campaign for raising awareness on mental health issues. Frank himself was diagnosed with such problems in 2003, namely Bi Polar Disorder. His well documented situation and helped improve the standards of care given to those with mental health conditions and benefit many charities associated within this field.
Frank’s presentations cover both his illustrious boxing career and his personal journey to mental well-being. He frequently teams up woth good friend and long serving sports reporter Garry Richardson to create a thought provoking, poignant and entertaining look back on his life.
