More
Eddie Jordan’s rise to Formula 1 glory came from humble beginnings when, as a bank clerk, he moved from Dublin to Jersey, experienced kart racing for the first time and became hooked. Later returning to Ireland he embarked on a driving career winning karting and Formula Ford races. It was his success in winning the Formula Atlantic Championship that ensured his future as a driver with Marlboro which led the way to races in Formula 3, Formula 2 and testing a McLaren F1 car in 1079.
Following a series of serious accidents, Jordan made the decision to retire from driving and set up his own team in 1980. And so began his reputation for discovering young talent in the business, giving names such as Martin Brundle, Damon Hill, Ayrton Senna, Johnny Herbert and many more the chance they needed to succeed. Inspired by their achievements, Jordan established Jordan Grand Prix in 1990 and entered Formula 1. Throughout the 90’s, Jordan pushed McLaren, Williams and Ferrari to the limit securing the teams first pole position and podium finish in 1994, while making history in becoming the first team in the sport to win its maiden Formula 1 race with a 1-2 in 1998 in the Belgian Grand Prix. Jordan remains one of only five teams to have won multiple Grand Prix in the past quarter of a century.
In 2005 Jordan sold the tam and has gone on to develop a number of business interests in addition to forming a rock band, The Robbers.
An accomplished and entertaining speaker, Eddie is also a regular presenter for the BBC Motoracing Team and takes a keen interest in developing projects for his favourite charities, including CLIC Sargent and Amber.
