Mark Malloch-Brown acted as Kofi Annan’s right-hand man at the UN later becoming Deputy Secretary General and led the UN’s international development efforts by working as administrator of the UNDP over several years. He went on to serve as Minister of State for the Foreign Office. He is currently the Chairman of SGO and its branch Smartmatic, a renowned elections technology provider, in addition to sitting on numerous private boards.

Originally training as a journalist and working on The Economist,

Mark Malloch-Brown went on to serve as Kofi Annan’s right-hand man at the UN later becoming Deputy Secretary General and led the UN’s international development efforts by working as administrator of the UNDP over several years. 

He also served as Minister of State for the Foreign Office in Gordon Brown’s Cabinet with other previous career roles including; Vice-Chairman for the World Economic Forum , at George Soro’s Investment Funds and his Open Society Institute. He also held the post of Vice-President for the World Bank.

 He is the Chairman of SGO and its branch Smartmatic, a renowned elections technology provider, in addition to sitting on numerous private boards.

During his career, Mark has been listed among the top 100 most influential men in his field. He now sits in the House of Lords.

He writes, broadcasts and lectures on topics such as global challenges, the world’s worst trouble spots, reforming the UN, corporate bottom-lines and about his own life, professional experiences and leadership management.
