Vicki Michelle: MBE

 
         

 

Vicki is best known for her portrayal of Yvette in the hit BBC series Allo Allo which has gained her worldwide recognition. She played Yvette for all nine series with the stage version taking her on national and international tours to Australia and New Zealand smashing box office records, not to mention two seasons in the West End at the Palladium, Prince of Wales and Dominion Theatres.

More recently, Vicki has continued to receive much critical acclaim in the theatre where she has just completed a hugely successful major UK tour re creating her role as Yvette in the 25th Anniversary Stage Production of Allo Allo and has also firmly established herself as a leading musical performer, most notably as the incorrigible Miss Hannigan in Annie, the hugely diverse roles of Lady Raeburn and nightclub singer Asphynxia in Salad Days and the high principled Chicken Ranch proprietor Mona Stangley in The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas.

On television, Vicki has recently made a return to her dramatic roots, starring opposite Ray Winstone as his wife Emma, in the wonderfully hard hitting and controversial film All in the Game in addition to her soap debut as the flamboyant Patricia Foster in Emmerdale, a role which she has now reprised on a number of occasions. She also once again portrayed the role of Yvette in the award winning Return of Allo Allo.  Her latest television appearances have seen her appear in Cash in the Celebrity Attic, compete in the popular show Celebrity Masterchef and guest on the popular lunchtime chat show, Loose Women.

Vicki began her extensive acting career playing leading straight roles on television in such series as Softly Softly, Minder, The Professionals and Play for Today. She has worked with comedy greats  Les Dawson, The Two Ronnie’s, Ken Dodd, Kenny Everett, Dick Emery, Bobby Davro and Lenny Henry to name but a few and has appeared in series including Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, The Goodies, Come Back Mrs Noah, Are you Being Served, Gayle Tuesday and Noel’s House Party,   She has also made frequent guest appearances on shows such as The Generation Game, Blankety Blank, The Weakest Link, This Morning, Loose Lips, Stars Reunited, Britain’s Best Sitcom, Celebrity Brides Unveiled, Comedy Connections, The Generation Game Now and Then and a sketch of Hotel Babylon for Children in Need.

Film Credits include: - The Greek Tycoon, Sweet William, The Sentinel, The Last Days of Pompeii, The Priest of Love, Queen Kong,  The Likely Lads, George and Mildred and The Colour of Funny.

Extensive theatre work includes:-  playing opposite Dudley Moore in Play It Again Sam both on national tour and in London’s West End and the leading roles of Vera in Doctor in the House, Mina in Dracula, Renee in Women of a Certain Age, Jacqueline in Don’t Dress For Dinner, Ruth in the two Alan Ayckbourn plays, Round and Round the Garden and Table Manners, Hilda Bigley in  Business Affairs, Glenda Parry in The Tart and The Vicar’s Wife, Sally in Bedside Manners, Pamela Willey in Out of Order, Betty in Funny Money, Gillian in Audacity, Donna and Dawn in Double Vision and Maxine in Stepping Out, adding tap dancing to her repertoire.

Musical roles include Bathsheba in Beauty and the Beast, The Narrator in Reflections – The Musical Journey of Diana Ross in addition to her roles in Annie and Salad Days.

In a classical vein, she has also performed with English Sinfonia narrating Edith Sitwell poetry to William Walton’s Façade.

Numerous pantomime appearances include:- The Wicked Red Queen in Snow White, Lady Cruella (Wicked Stepmother) in Cinderella, The Lilac Fairy and Fairy Moan in Sleeping Beauty, Mrs Darling and Harrietta in Peter Pan, Aladdin and Genie of the Ring in Aladdin, The Fairy in Mother Goose, Jack and the Beanstalk and Robin Hood.

Vicki was honoured by Her Majesty The Queen in the Birthday Honours List June 2010 with an MBE for her services to charity.
